Guwahati CBIC Sports Quota Recruitment 2025: CGST, Central Excise & Customs, Guwahati Zone has released a notification for the recruitment of meritorious sportspersons for appointment to the posts of Tax Assistant and Havaldar. As we know, this department is controlled by the Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs (CBIC), which comes under the Ministry of Finance, Government of India. Therefore, it is an inspiring career option for the Indian youth. However, Indian nationals belonging to various sports fields are eligible for this recruitment. If we see the vacancy details of this Customs Sports Quota, then we can find there are only 11 posts in it. Out of these, Tax Assistant has only 1 post and Havaldar has 10 posts. However, for category-wise vacancy details, candidates are advised to read the official notification properly.

Eligibility Criteria

If we talk about the eligibility criteria of CGST Sports Quota recruitment, then we can say only an Indian citizen is eligible for this recruitment. However, other eligibility criteria like educational qualification, age limits, and sports eligibility are discussed below. Age Limit (as on 13/09/2025)

The age limit of the candidates should be between 18 to 24 years for this recruitment. However, age relaxation will be given up to a maximum of 5 years. For SC/ST candidates, 10 years will be given as per the government guidelines.

Educational Qualification

  • Tax Assistant: Candidates must have a degree from a recognized university, basic computer knowledge, and a data entry speed of 8000 key depressions per hour for this recruitment.
  • Havaldar: For the Havaldar post, candidates must have passed Matriculation or its equivalent from a recognized board for this recruitment.

Sports Eligibility

As we know, candidates will be selected for this recruitment through the sports quota. Therefore, candidates need to have proficiency in any sport given in the official notification. This proficiency will be evaluated based on participation in recognized tournaments/events during 2020 to 2025. Only the best three performances will be considered.

Order of Preference:

  1. Represented India in International Competition with Sports Department clearance
  2. Represented State/UT in Senior/Junior National Championships and won medals (up to 3rd place)
  3. Represented University in Inter-University competition and won medals (up to 3rd place)
  4. Represented State/UT in Khelo India Games (above 18 years) and won medals (up to 3rd place)
  5. Represented State Schools in National sports/games for Schools and won medals (up to 3rd place)
  6. Represented at levels mentioned above but didn't win medals (in same order)

Physical Standards (for Havaldar):

Physical standards and the physical efficiency test are required for the Havaldar post. Male candidates need to have a minimum height of 157.5 cm for this post. However, 5 cm is relaxable for Garhwalis, Assamese, Gorkhas, and ST candidates. The chest of male candidates should be 81 cm (fully expanded) with a minimum expansion of 5 cm. However, for female candidates, the height should be 152 cm, and 2.5 cm is relaxable. The weight should be 48 kg, and again 2 kg is relaxable for Garhwalis, Assamese, Gorkhas, and ST candidates.

Physical Efficiency Test (for Havaldar):

As we mentioned above, the physical efficiency test is required for the Havaldar post. Male candidates have to walk 1600 meters in 15 minutes, while female candidates have to walk 1 km in 20 minutes. For more detailed information, candidates should read the official notification.
