Exam Preparation Strategy

This detailed preparation plan is for DSSSB TGT Teacher Recruitment 2025. It includes a complete daily and weekly study schedule, subject-wise book recommendations, mock test and analysis strategies, time management, and revision tips — all designed to help you prepare effectively and crack the exam with confidence.

Understanding the Exam

The DSSSB TGT Exam generally consists of two sections — General Awareness, General Intelligence & Reasoning, Arithmetical & Numerical Ability, Hindi Language, English Language, and the Subject Concerned (based on your teaching subject such as English, Maths, Science, Social Studies, Hindi, etc.). The exam is objective type and time-bound, so both accuracy and speed are crucial.

Daily Routine (Sample)

Follow a structured plan that balances concept learning, practice, and revision. Aim for 6–8 hours of focused study daily.

  • 06:00–07:00: Current affairs and newspaper reading (focus on education, national issues, and Delhi government schemes).
  • 07:15–09:15: Subject Concerned (main teaching subject – concept + NCERT + pedagogy).
  • 10:00–11:30: Quantitative aptitude practice (arithmetic & data interpretation).
  • 11:45–13:00: Reasoning (logical and verbal practice).
  • 14:30–16:00: English language – grammar, comprehension, and vocabulary.
  • 16:15–17:30: Hindi language – grammar, idioms, comprehension practice.
  • 19:00–20:30: Revision of the day’s study + short mock quiz (30–40 MCQs).
  • 21:00–21:30: Light reading or watching educational current affairs videos.

Tip: Use small 25-minute Pomodoro sessions with 5-minute breaks to maintain focus.

Weekly Routine (Sample)

Divide your week strategically to balance all sections.

  • Monday to Friday: Follow daily routine with full focus on conceptual study and short topic-wise tests.
  • Saturday: Full-length subject revision and sectional tests (1 English/Hindi, 1 Reasoning, 1 Quant).
  • Sunday: Attempt one full-length mock test under exam conditions and analyze it thoroughly.
  • Every 15 days: Revise all completed chapters and update your short notes.

Subject-Wise Preparation Strategy & Best Books

  • 1. General Awareness

Focus on static GK, current affairs, Delhi government schemes, Indian polity, history, and geography.

    • Books: Lucent’s General Knowledge, Arihant General Studies, and Monthly Current Affairs (Vision IAS / Adda247 / GK Today PDFs).
    • Tips: Make one-page notes for important events every week and revise them regularly.
  • 2. Reasoning

Important topics: series, coding-decoding, syllogism, blood relation, direction, analogy, seating arrangement, and logical puzzles.

    • Book: A Modern Approach to Verbal & Non-Verbal Reasoning by R.S. Aggarwal.
    • Strategy: Practice 25–30 questions daily and analyze errors immediately.
  • 3. Quantitative Aptitude

Focus on arithmetic, percentage, ratio-proportion, average, time & work, simple & compound interest, profit & loss, and data interpretation.

    • Book: Quantitative Aptitude by R.S. Aggarwal / Fast Track Arithmetic by Rajesh Verma.
    • Strategy: Maintain a formula notebook; practice questions with timer to improve accuracy and speed.
  • 4. English Language

Focus on grammar, comprehension, error spotting, synonyms-antonyms, idioms, and sentence improvement.

    • Strategy: Practice 20 grammar questions and one comprehension daily.
  • 5. Hindi Language

    Focus on व्याकरण (grammar), मुहावरे, लोकोक्तियाँ, पर्यायवाची, विलोम, and comprehension.

    • Books: NCERT textbooks, Arihant / Disha DSSSB TGT Subject Book, and CBSE pedagogy notes.
    • Strategy: Focus on conceptual clarity and previous-year DSSSB TGT papers.

How to Give Mock Tests

  • Take one full-length mock test every Sunday at the same time as your actual exam.
  • Use a timer and avoid interruptions — simulate exam conditions.
  • After every mock, record your score and accuracy for each section.
  • Focus on time management — target 1 minute per question average.
  • Use online platforms like Testbook, Adda247, or Oliveboard for DSSSB-specific mock tests.

Mock Test Analysis Strategy

  • Step 1: Identify questions you got wrong or skipped — categorize them into “Conceptual,” “Silly Mistake,” and “Time Constraint.”
  • Step 2: Revise those topics again within 2 days of the mock.
  • Step 3: Maintain an error notebook — note the topic and reason for each mistake.
  • Step 4: Reattempt the same mock after 15 days to track improvement.
  • Goal: Achieve 85–90% accuracy in every section by the last phase of preparation.

Time Management Tips

  • Start your day with the toughest subject — your mind is fresh in the morning.
  • Keep daily short revision slots for vocabulary and formulas.
  • During the exam, first attempt the easiest section to build confidence.
  • Mark doubtful questions and revisit them only if time permits.
  • Regularly measure accuracy vs. speed — both are equally important.

Revision Strategy

  • Revise daily for 30–45 minutes before sleeping.
  • Every weekend, revise all formulae, grammar rules, and current affairs of the week.
  • In the last 30 days, shift to 60% mock practice and 40% revision.
  • Focus on short notes and avoid reading new topics close to the exam.

Health & Motivation

  • Sleep 7 hours daily — a fresh mind performs better.
  • Do light exercise or yoga for 20 minutes to improve focus.
  • Take small breaks and avoid burnout — consistency is key.
  • Visualize your goal: becoming a DSSSB teacher serving Delhi’s education system.

3-Month Study Outline

  • Month 1: Build basics of all subjects and cover 50% of your main teaching subject.
  • Month 2: Complete syllabus, start sectional mocks, and focus on weak areas.
  • Month 3: Focus on full-length mocks, speed, accuracy, and daily revision.

Final Tips

  • Download official DSSSB syllabus and previous-year question papers.
  • Prepare short notes for each subject — useful for last-minute revision.
  • Be consistent — daily small progress compounds over time.
  • Stay positive and disciplined — success follows consistent effort.
